Columbia SC 63, The Renaissance Foundation and Bethel AME Church present I Was There: Remembering the March on Washington at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Bethel AME Church.
The discussion is presented in conjunction with Historic Columbia Foundation’s 2013 Jubilee: Festival of Heritage to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. Moderated by Dr. Bobby Donaldson, professor of history at the University of South Carolina, this panel discussion will feature Columbians who attended the March on Washington on August 28, 1963, who will share their recollections and impressions of that historic day.
I Was There: Remembering the March on Washington will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Bethel AME Church, located at 819 Woodrow Street in downtown Columbia. This event is part of the yearlong Columbia SC 63 initiative, a partnership of the City of Columbia, Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau, Historic Columbia Foundation and the University of South Carolina. This event is free and open to the public.
